Dreamer

That's it, Dinah. If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrariwise, what it is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be it would. You see?
--Alice in Wonderland

I can't wait for the 2010 version of the film to come out, and it's going to be directed by Tim Burton! Masterpiece in the making...

Honest to Blog?

"So yesterday I was shopping at Anthropologie, and the lady in the dressing room was like, 'You look really familiar. Did you go to U of M?' and I said, 'Nope.' And then she asked, 'Oh, do you just shop in here a lot?' and I was like, 'Yeah, I shop here all the time,' which is a total lie. It's possible she recognized me from a film, but I'm not going to be like, 'Actually I was in Juno and The Wackness and you might have also seen me appear in..."

i finally saw slumdog millionaire! i went today with my cousin & my dad[yeah, i do everything with my family! sue me.] but they were mad as hell because they had never heard of this movie in their entire lives and i dragged them to see it. they huffed and puffed thee entire time but as soon as it came on they were glued to the screen. but anyway the movie was really good, well not REALLY good but it had a really good concept and the music was really good. dev patel is my new babe, i love him. but it was a good film that showed that only good people prosper. i like that theme.

go see it if you haven't yet.

[slumdog millionaire]

[i have to see this movie]

The story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show's questions. Each chapter of Jamal's increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show's seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show? When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out. At the heart of its storytelling lies the question of how anyone comes to know the things they know about life and love.

Slumdog Millionaire won 4 Golden Globe Awards and it is nominated for 10 Oscars. I have been hearing about it for a while but now I'm like seriously dying to see this movie.

flava in your ear.

[JOSH PECK]

When I first turned on The Wackness I don't exactly know what I was expecting from Josh Peck, but during the first seen there was no denying that he could REALLY act. So basically, HE KILLED IT! There was Method Man's hilarious Jamaican accent ["It's BIGGIE!"], then there was Mary-Kate Olsen's hippy demeanor that was both really funny & weirdly entertaining, and Aaron Yoo's gangsta-ness [is that a word? I don't think so.] But still after all of this Josh Peck still stole the movie. It was funny to me because I'm so used to seeing him on Drake & Josh, and now he's doing sex scenes, using vulgar language, and actually being kinda cute. It's official Josh Peck is in the ranks of Micheal Cera.

Dope.

**And I take everything back that I said about Blender replacing VIBE. I was lying, they made a comeback.

[the carter]

The Carter is a documentary about Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. aka Lil' Wayne. It is an intoxicating, cinematic journey into the thoughts and world of an extremely complicated man whose creative force is something to behold. He never stops recording. He has a portable studio that he carries around in a black bag, and it allows him to lay down a track anytime anywhere. His work is his own: unfiltered, uncensored, raw, and powerful. Director Adam Bhala Lough captures remarkably candid moments, such as Lil' Wayne recounting his first sexual experience, as well as him talking openly about his drug habits. Following him all over the country and to Amsterdam, Lough mixes fly-on-the-wall footage of Lil' Wayne in his hotel room and on his bus with artfully composed concert footage. The result is a shockingly intimate portrait of one of the most inspired (and eccentric) musicians of modern America.

The Carter is executive produced by Quincy Jones, and will be premiering at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, which starts next week.
